The Science

Fluoride isn't a trend. It's the evidence.

Fluoride works by a simple mechanism — it becomes incorporated into enamel crystals and makes them physically harder and more acid-resistant. It also remineralises areas of early decay before they become visible cavities.

🛡️
Remineralisation Fluoride reverses the earliest stages of decay — the white spots that precede cavity formation — by replenishing lost minerals in weakened enamel.
🧪
Acid resistance Fluorapatite (what enamel becomes when fluoride is incorporated) is significantly harder and more resistant to bacterial acid than natural hydroxyapatite.
🦠
Antibacterial action High localised fluoride concentrations from varnish inhibit the enzymes that bacteria use to metabolise sugar — reducing the acid attack itself, not just protecting against it.
Sensitivity relief Fluoride varnish applied to exposed dentine (receding gums, worn enamel) blocks open tubules and significantly reduces tooth sensitivity — often within 48 hours.
Personalised Care

Benefits for every age group.

Fluoride varnish and fissure sealants aren't just for kids — though we start early. Adults benefit just as meaningfully from professional fluoride care.

🍼

Starts from Age 1

We apply fluoride varnish from the first tooth. The amount is minimal and the varnish sets on contact with saliva — making it safe even for infants. The IDA recommends fluoride from the moment teeth appear.

🦷

Protects Milk Teeth

Milk teeth matter. They hold space for adult teeth, enable speech development, and affect nutrition. A cavity in a milk molar is just as painful as in an adult tooth — fluoride prevents it.

🔒

Guards New Adult Teeth

The first permanent molars erupt around age 6 — before children brush independently. These teeth are at highest cavity risk. Fluoride varnish every 6 months dramatically lowers that risk.

💧

Fights Early Childhood Caries

ECC affects up to 40% of Indian children under 5. Fluoride varnish is the most effective single intervention to treat or arrest early ECC lesions — reversing damage before a filling is needed.

😌

Completely Painless

No injection. No drilling. The varnish is painted on in 30 seconds per arch. Most children describe it as their favourite part of the appointment — especially the strawberry or mint flavour.

🏆

Fissure Sealants — The Secret Weapon

At ages 6–7 and 11–12, when permanent molars erupt, we assess groove depth and apply sealants to deep fissures. This single step prevents the majority of childhood molar cavities — often for a decade.

🔬

Remineralise Early Decay

Early-stage cavities (white spot lesions) can often be reversed with professional fluoride varnish before a drill is needed. We identify these at check-ups and treat them non-invasively.

🌡️

Eliminate Dentine Sensitivity

Sensitive teeth from receding gums or enamel wear? Fluoride varnish applied directly to exposed dentine blocks the tubules that transmit pain signals. Many patients notice relief within 48 hours.

🦠

High-Risk Adults Need It Most

Dry mouth (from medications or systemic conditions), frequent acid reflux, or a history of multiple cavities — these all substantially increase decay risk. Professional fluoride is a frontline management tool.

🦷

Root Surface Protection

Exposed root surfaces (common after gum disease or recession) are significantly more vulnerable to decay than enamel. Fluoride varnish is the most effective way to protect roots that toothpaste alone cannot.

🎯

Post-Whitening & Orthodontics

Following whitening treatment or aligner/braces therapy, enamel can be temporarily more porous. A fluoride varnish application helps remineralise and restrengthen enamel following these procedures.

💊

Safe with Medications

Fluoride varnish is safe alongside virtually all medications. The fluoride concentration is localised and minimal. We conduct a medical history review for all adult patients to personalise the treatment.

What We Offer

FLUORIDE VARNISH
Adults & Children

Fluoride Varnish

₹799 per session · often included in check-up

A high-concentration fluoride gel is painted directly onto tooth surfaces with a small brush. It sets immediately on contact with saliva, releasing fluoride slowly over several hours to days. The gold standard for professional fluoride delivery.

From age 1 onwards — no age limit
Takes 2–3 minutes, no discomfort
Applied every 6 months (or 3 months for high risk)
Strawberry, mint, and unflavoured options
Do not brush for 4 hours post-application
BEFORE SEALED UV FISSURE SEALANTS
Children Priority

Fissure Sealants

₹1,200 per tooth · one-time, lasts 5–10 years

A thin, flowable resin is painted into the deep grooves and pits of back teeth — the areas most prone to trapping food and bacteria. Once set under a curing light, sealants physically seal those grooves, making the surface smooth and self-cleaning.

Best at ages 6–7 (first molars) and 11–12 (second molars)
Painless — no injection, no drilling, no anaesthetic
5 minutes per tooth under the curing light
Reduces molar cavity risk by up to 80%
Lasts 5–10 years; checked and topped up at each visit

Fluoride Gel (Custom Tray)

₹3,500 full kit · custom trays + 3-month gel supply

For adults with high cavity risk, dry mouth, or post-orthodontic care, we fabricate custom-fitted trays and provide a prescription-strength fluoride gel for daily home use. More sustained fluoride exposure than varnish alone for patients who need it most.

Custom trays for precise fit and maximum coverage
5-minute nightly application at home
Ideal after orthodontics, for dry mouth, or post-whitening
Prescription strength — significantly stronger than OTC
Paired with fluoride varnish at routine appointments
The Experience

What happens at your appointment.

Simple, fast, comfortable — most patients are in and out in under 15 minutes.

1

Risk Assessment

We review your cavity history, diet, dry mouth, medications and brushing habits to determine your personal fluoride protocol and whether sealants are indicated.

5 min
2

Teeth are Cleaned

A gentle polish removes surface deposits so the varnish or sealant contacts clean enamel for maximum adhesion and effectiveness.

5–10 min
3

Varnish Application

Fluoride varnish is painted onto all tooth surfaces with a small brush. It sets on contact with saliva within seconds. No taste, no discomfort, no waiting.

2–3 min
4

Sealants (if indicated)

Grooves are etched, dried and sealed under a blue curing light. Each molar takes about 5 minutes. Children often find this the most interesting part.

Evidence Base

Not marketing. Decades of data.

Fluoride varnish and fissure sealants are among the most extensively studied preventive interventions in medicine. The evidence is unequivocal.

"Professional fluoride varnish applied every 6 months reduces caries incidence in both primary and permanent dentitions by 37% on average. Pit and fissure sealants reduce occlusal caries by 86% at one year compared to unsealed controls."
— Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (Ahovuo-Saloranta et al., 2017)

Endorsed by the WHO, Indian Dental Association (IDA), American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry. Fluoride is classified as an essential medicine by the WHO.

Common Questions

Everything you've wondered about fluoride.

Yes — fluoride varnish is one of the most evidence-backed preventive dental treatments available. It has been used safely in children from age 1 onwards for decades. The amount of fluoride applied is minimal and the varnish sets quickly on contact with saliva, making it safe even for very young children. It is endorsed by the IDA, the WHO and paediatric dental associations worldwide.
For most children, we recommend fluoride varnish every 6 months — at each routine check-up. Children with higher cavity risk (a history of decay, high-sugar diet, poor brushing technique, or early childhood caries) may benefit from applications every 3 months. Dr. Achla Goel will recommend the right frequency at your child's assessment.
Absolutely. Fluoride benefits teeth at any age. Adults with sensitive teeth, receding gums (which expose root surfaces more vulnerable to decay), dry mouth, or a history of frequent cavities benefit significantly from professional fluoride varnish. It remineralises weakened enamel and can noticeably reduce dentine sensitivity within 48 hours.
Fissure sealants are thin resin coatings applied to the deep grooves (fissures) of the back teeth — the areas most prone to cavities because food and bacteria become trapped. They effectively seal those grooves, reducing cavity risk by up to 80% in treated teeth. They are most effective when applied shortly after the permanent molars erupt (typically ages 6–7 and 11–12). Dr. Achla Goel will assess groove depth and individual cavity risk before recommending sealants.
No. Fissure sealant application is completely painless — no injection, no drilling, no removal of tooth structure. The tooth is cleaned and dried, a conditioning gel is applied briefly, then the liquid sealant is painted on and set with a blue curing light. The whole process takes about 5 minutes per tooth. It is one of the most comfortable dental procedures available — even anxious children usually manage easily.
With good oral hygiene, fissure sealants can last 5–10 years. We check the integrity of existing sealants at every routine appointment — if any have worn or chipped, we simply reapply. Even partially intact sealants still provide significant protection compared to unsealed teeth.
Avoid eating or drinking for 30 minutes after application. For the next 4 hours, avoid hot drinks, very hard or crunchy foods, and sticky sweets. Do not brush teeth for 4–6 hours after the varnish is applied — the fluoride needs time to penetrate the enamel. A soft meal that evening is ideal. Normal diet and brushing can resume the following morning.
Yes — fluoride varnish and fissure sealants are available at both our West Delhi clinic (A52 Meera Bagh, A Block — turn left from Jainar Hospital) and our Gurugram clinic (222, Sector 51 — opposite Amity International School). Both locations are fully equipped for preventive dental care for all ages.
